The tech-innovation hub, Ennovate, will be located in London and will have £40m of funds specifically designated for UK projects. Ennovate will collaborate with telecommunications companies Verizon and BT to develop new entertainment products for the metaverse, a virtual reality space. The chief executive of Entain, Jette Nygaard-Andersen, stated, “We aim to be at the forefront of introducing innovative and exciting products and experiences for customers, utilizing our cutting-edge technology in sport, gaming, and interactive entertainment in the metaverse. Additionally, we want to leverage our position as a global technology leader to drive innovation more extensively.” Ennovate will showcase various technologies, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that are currently being developed for Entain’s brands, starting with PartyPoker. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and “VR arcades” where customers can play virtual reality games will also be featured. The hub will also focus on promoting diversity and women’s representation in STEM industries through partnerships with Girls Who Code and the Tech Girls Movement Foundation as part of the EnTrain diversity and technology program.
