UK&I Flutter initiates female-centric betting startup competition

2 Min Read

The competition launched by Flutter’s Alpha Hub programme aims to partner with Sky Betting and Gaming, Paddy Power, and Betfair. Startups are invited to submit their applications before the closing date of 15 March 2024. The winning startup will be selected based on their product ideas that cater to the gambling habits of women. Flutter has highlighted social and community gaming as an example. Startups also have the option to submit ideas that deviate from the brief. The chosen startup will receive support in launching their product in the UK and Ireland and may also establish a business relationship with Flutter.

“We see this as an exciting opportunity in the market, and we are eager to collaborate with innovative startups through the Alpha Hub programme,” said Steve Birch, Chief Commercial Officer at Sky Betting and Gaming.

The announcement of the startup competition comes shortly after Flutter’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). On 29 January, Flutter began trading under the ticker symbol FLUT, fulfilling its commitment to list its shares on the NYSE by the same target date set in December. Flutter’s decision to exit Euronext Dublin in favor of the NYSE listing has been viewed as a rational move, given its significant exposure to the US market, which is likely to attract interested investors, as noted by Ed Birkin, Senior Analyst at H2 Gambling Capital.
