Rhode Island’s Sports Betting Handle Exceeds $500 Million in the 2021-22 Season

Total handle for the 12 months through to the end of June 2022 was $517.2m, an increase of 46.5% from $353.0m in the previous financial year.

During the year, $290.5m was wagered via mobile, while $226.8m was spent at retail sportsbooks.

The Twin River casino received $164.9m in wagers, while the Tiverton Casino received $61.9m.

Combined online and retail revenue for the year was $39.7m, showing a 9.7% increase from the previous year.

Online betting accounted for $122.1m of total revenue, with $17.7m coming from retail.

Twin River generated $11.7m in retail revenue, and the Tiverton Casino generated $6.0m.

In June, the total handle climbed 29.1% year-on-year to $34.2m. However, this was a 16.8% decrease from May.

The total revenue for June, combining online and retail, was $2.4m, down 35.1% from June 2021.

In June, online revenue reached $1.7m, while retail revenue was $619,343, with $340,132 from Twin River and $279,211 from the Tiverton Casino.
