Record-breaking August sports betting handle surpasses New Jersey’s 2020 total

In figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), the state generated $427.7m (€362.7m/£309.5m) in total gaming revenue in the month to 31 August, which was up 31% on the same month in 2020.

Although this figure represents a decline of 5.1% compared to the previous month’s total of $450.6m in July 2021, it still showcases the ongoing interest and engagement of individuals in this form of gambling.

The total sports-betting handle for the month reached $664.7m, with a significant portion of $612.9m generated through online platforms.
