Record-Breaking $1.0bn Sports Betting Handle Set by New Jersey in September

In September, the total sports-betting revenue in New Jersey soared to $453.6m, demonstrating a substantial growth of 40.3% compared to the corresponding month in the previous year.

The sports betting market experienced a significant surge in revenue, contributing greatly to the overall growth. In fact, the revenue for sports betting saw a remarkable increase of 82.9% reaching an impressive $82.4 million.

In December, New Jersey sports bettors set a new monthly record by wagering a total of $1.01 billion, surpassing the previous record set in December 2020 of $966.3 million.

Online sportsbooks dominated the sports-betting industry, attracting a staggering $918.4m in wagers. On the other hand, retail sites received a comparatively lower amount of bets totaling $92.7m.
