The state’s sports betting handle reached a new high, surpassing the previous record of $787.6 million set last month. However, it fell short of New Jersey’s outstanding $1.30 billion wagered in the same period, which remains the highest ever wagered within a single state in a month. Nevertheless, the handle saw a significant increase of 66.9% compared to October 2020. In terms of revenue, sports betting showed a more modest growth of 14.0%, totaling $48.3 million.
Football dominated the betting scene, contributing the majority of both revenue, with $32.6 million, and handle, with $729.3 million. Baseball followed with $4.2 million in revenue, while parlay cards brought in $4.3 million. Notably, mobile betting played a significant role, generating $16.9 million of the state’s sports betting revenue. Online wagering amounted to $703.8 million.
In the state of Nevada, total gaming revenue reached $1.22 billion, representing a 39.8% increase compared to October 2020. Slots accounted for the largest portion of this total, generating $790.4 million, a substantial growth of 39.8%. Players staked a staggering $11.69 billion on slot machines, with multi-denomination slots being the most popular type, accumulating $367.6 million in revenue. Penny slots also contributed significantly, generating $312.9 million.
Table, card, and counter games, which include sports betting, exhibited an impressive year-on-year rise of 67.8%, generating revenue of $431.0 million. Blackjack revenue stood out, experiencing a remarkable surge of 91.8% and totaling $115.4 million. Baccarat revenue also increased significantly by 55.4% to $92.4 million. Furthermore, roulette revenue more than doubled to $40.4 million.
Examining Clark County, which encompasses Las Vegas, total gaming revenue reached $1.06 billion, marking a substantial growth of 57.3% compared to the previous year. On the iconic Las Vegas Strip, revenue reached an impressive $702.2 million, a remarkable 86.9% surge from October 2020.
