In December, taxable adjusted gross revenue in Indiana narrowly surpassed the existing record, reaching $50.5m. This amount was also 18.5% higher than the revenue generated in December 2022 ($42.7m) and exceeded the revenue of November 2023 ($30.7m) by an impressive 64.8%.

When it comes to handle, Indiana came close to setting two new records in December. Consumers spent a total of $503.1m, which is the second highest monthly amount since the state legalized sports betting in September 2019. This figure represents a 16.6% increase compared to December 2022 ($431.4m) and is just 2.1% behind the all-time high set in November 2023 ($513.7m).

Among Indiana consumers, basketball remained the most popular sport for betting, with $133.1m wagered. This is likely due to the presence of popular basketball teams such as the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. Additionally, American football attracted $118.1m in bets, while betting on baseball accounted for $133,791. Other sports received a total of $45.7m in bets, and parlay betting reached $205.7m.

In the battle for the top spot in the Indiana market, Ameristar Casino and partner DraftKings reclaimed the lead in December. They generated $19.3m in revenue from a handle of $179.8m. Blue Chip Casino and FanDuel, who were in the lead in November, came in second with $18.1m in revenue from a handle of $171.8m. Placing third once again was Belterra Casino, a partner of FanDuel, with revenue of $3.8m from $34.4m in wagers. It is worth noting that the state earned $4.8m in tax from legal sports betting in December.
