Detroit sports betting sees 8.8% decline in revenue compared to last year

January 2024 saw a decrease of 8.8% in total gaming revenue compared to the previous month. Table games and slots brought in $93.9m, while retail sports betting generated $500,221. MGM held 48% of the market share, followed by MotorCity at 30% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown with 22%.

Revenue from table games and slots dropped by 9.1% year-on-year and 15.7% month-on-month. MGM’s revenue decreased by 11.3%, MotorCity by 10.4%, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown by 2.0%. The total gaming revenue also fell by 18.8% from December 2023.

In terms of sports betting, the total handle for January was $24.2m, a 20.4% decrease from the previous month. Gross receipts amounted to $520,988, with MotorCity leading in QAGR at $1.1m, followed by MGM at $403,926. Hollywood Casino at Greektown reported a loss in this segment.
