Decline in Rhode Island’s Sports Betting Handle and Revenue in November

Bettors in Rhode Island spent $48.3m on sports wagering in November, a 21.1% decrease from $61.1m in 2022 but a 5.5% increase from $45.8m in October 2023. Out of this amount, $38.6m was wagered with online sportsbooks in Rhode Island, while $9.6m was spent at retail locations at Twin River and Tiverton Casino. Twin River took $6.0m in bets, and Tiverton Casino took $3.6m.

Revenue in Rhode Island reached $3.4m in November, which was 30.6% lower than the $4.9m generated in November 2022 and 24.4% less than the $4.5m in October 2023. This was also the lowest monthly amount since August 2023 when $1.4m was reported. Online betting contributed $2.6m to the total revenue, while retail accounted for $837,173, with Twin River earning $488,920 and Tiverton Casino earning $348,253.

Players won a total of $44.9m from sports betting in November, with $36.1m from online wagering and $8.8m from retail.

Looking at the financial year-to-date, the total player spend from June to November was $174.5m. Online betting accounted for $136.8m, and retail contributed $37.7m. Revenue for the period reached $13.7m, with online generating $11.7m and retail sportsbooks generating $3.0m. Rhode Island players won $159.8m during the reporting period.
