Colorado Sports Betting Sees Lowest Handle of the Year, Falling to $360.3m in May

In the world of sports-betting, player spending surged by 44.7% compared to $249.0m in May of the previous year. However, it experienced a decline of 8.2% from April this year, which witnessed a staggering $392.3m in player spending.

Sports bettors placed a total of $356.8m in online wagers during May,

while $3.5m was spent at retail sportsbook facilities.

In sports-betting, the gross gaming revenue for May was $27.1m, showing a 78.3% increase compared to $15.2m in May 2021 and a 19.9% rise compared to $22.6m in April this year.

In the realm of sports-betting, $26.7m of the total revenue can be attributed to online betting, whereas only $267,458 came from retail sportsbooks.

Basketball was the most popular sport for betting, with a total of $102.0m wagered.

Baseball followed closely behind with $91.0m in bets.

Ice hockey attracted $35.7m in total bets, while tennis had $20.3m.

Sports-betting consumers placed $63.1 million in parlay bets during the month.

The state collected $1.7m in taxes from sports betting during the month.

The win percentage for licensed operators in sports-betting in Colorado was 7.53%.
