The funds will enable GamCare to continue running the National Gambling Helpline, focusing on expanding accessibility and choice for those in need. The organization plans to enhance the digital tools and resources that complement the helpline, while also delivering improved regional services and treatment across various locations including London, Yorkshire and Humber, Scotland, South East, East Midlands, and the North East.
As part of GambleAware’s National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) initiative, GamCare will collaborate with other national and regional partners to support the project’s primary goals. These objectives include improving access to support for gambling-related issues through the National Gambling Helpline and NGSN. The initiative also aims to reduce barriers to seeking help for gambling problems, foster collaboration with other organizations in the gambling harm sphere, and ensure that support services continuously improve and meet the needs of those who use them.
GamCare’s CEO, Anna Hemmings, expressed delight with the outcome of the commissioning process and emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing free and confidential support to individuals impacted by gambling nationwide. She also highlighted the opportunity provided by secure and sustainable funding to develop long-term strategies for delivering services that effectively reduce gambling harms. GamCare is eager to collaborate with partner organizations within the National Gambling Support Network.
