Research produced by the institutions must align with GambleAware’s primary areas of interest, including the effects of gambling harms on communities, young people, and individuals with protected characteristics like disabilities.
Allison Clare, the interim research director at GambleAware, states that these grants will provide universities with the opportunity to build detailed knowledge on the experience of gambling harm within specific communities.
The grants also offer a unique chance for PhD students to specialize in this emerging field and contribute to the knowledge and evidence on lived experiences of gambling harms.
GambleAware aims to support their commitment to understanding gambling harms better and providing enhanced support.
A recent study by GambleAware revealed that gamblers tend to spend more money on non-gambling related activities compared to non-gamblers.
In June, GambleAware invited applications to fund residential rehabilitation programs for individuals struggling with gambling addictions.
