Entain’s £2m Donation Dominates Q1 Contributions to GambleAware, Showcasing Commitment to Social Responsibility

The total amount donated in the three months to 30 June increased by 180.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching £2.0m. Entain, a gambling business, made the highest donation during the first quarter. Videoslots donated £50,000, while Broadway Gaming and Apricot Investments contributed £30,000 each. Star Racing, Virgin Bet, and Intouch Games also made donations of £20,720, £16,892, and £14,100 respectively. All British Gambling Commission licensees must contribute to research, education, and treatment, and GambleAware is the only charity that fulfills all three requirements. GambleAware requests all gambling-profitable businesses to donate at least 0.1% of their gross gambling yield (GGY) annually. Additionally, BetVictor pledged £65,605, Mansion Group Holdings pledged £10,000, and Novomatic pledged £5,000 to GambleAware. One Click donated £22,801, and STS.BET donated £22,000. GambleAware did not receive any funds from regulatory settlements in the quarter. In the 12 months leading up to 31 March, donations increased by 80.9% to £19.0m, with substantial contributions from Flutter and Entain. These operators, along with Bet365 and William Hill, committed to donating a total of £100m for improving treatment services for problem gamblers by the end of 2023.
