Colombian Tennis Players Receive 3-Year Ban for Corruption Charges, Highlighting Social Responsibility Concerns

Sepúlveda Navarro, a former professional tennis player with a highest ATP singles ranking of 1,579, has been banned from participating in any tennis event sanctioned by the governing bodies until 8 June 2024. This ban comes as a result of various offences committed between 2015 and 2020, which included betting on or conspiring to wager on the outcome of tennis events, manipulating the outcome of events, accepting money or benefits to negatively influence a player’s performance, and failing to report such approaches. Sepúlveda Navarro has also been fined $10,000 (£7,177/€8,373), with $8,000 of the fine being suspended.
