Finance director Helen Martin will become the chief operating officer of YGAM, taking on additional responsibilities until a new chief executive is appointed.
Lee Willows, who has served as YGAM’s chief executive since 2014, will step down. Willows, along with Anne and Keith Evans, founded the charity with the aim of preventing gambling harms. Under their leadership, YGAM has become a leading organization in gambling harm prevention, offering training programs for healthcare professionals, trade unions, parents, and educational programs for young people.
Willows expressed his pride in leading YGAM for seven years and believes that the timing is right to step down as the charity enters its third strategic cycle. He assured his continuous support for the staff team and looks forward to witnessing their future achievements.
Willows’ personal journey inspired him to establish evidence-led education and prevention programs to combat gambling harm. These programs have received recognition and are now safeguarding young people in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The chair of YGAM, Mike Wójcik, commended Willows for his tremendous efforts and passion, highlighting the significant impact he has made on the sector. Wójcik expressed confidence in YGAM’s ability to continue progressing and fulfilling its mission under Willows’ guidance.
YGAM’s independent board of trustees will announce further details regarding the recruitment process for Willows’ successor.
