The CEO of the Malta regulator, who has served since January 2021, will step down on 25 January.
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) will be searching for a replacement through a public application process.
The new CEO will shadow the current CEO before officially taking over.
The MGA chairperson expressed confidence in the current CEO’s contribution and thanked him for his work.
Prior to being CEO, the outgoing CEO held various roles within the MGA since joining in September 2014.
The outgoing CEO described leaving the MGA as a difficult decision and expressed pride in the work done during his tenure.
The MGA recently cancelled the gaming license of the operator Arabmillionaire due to numerous breaches of regulations.
The operator failed to comply with MGA orders, complete regulatory obligations, and pay license fees.
Despite being given multiple opportunities to rectify the issues, the operator did not cooperate and breaches continued.
As a result, the MGA decided to cancel the license.
