How BGC Members are Contributing to 5,000 Apprenticeships in an Exciting New Scheme

The BGC has launched an initiative to support the UK government’s Plan for Jobs programme, aimed at increasing employability among young people who have been heavily impacted by the pandemic. This initiative is in line with the Government’s plan to review the Gambling Act by the end of 2021. Currently, BGC members provide employment opportunities for 119,000 individuals across the country.

In addition, these operators are also participating in the Government’s Kick Start scheme, offering job opportunities to 16 to 24-year-olds receiving Universal Credit. The BGC believes that as the UK recovers from the pandemic, creating more employment and training options for young people is crucial. It sees the Government’s Plan for Jobs as an excellent opportunity to generate apprenticeships and traineeships, address unemployment, enhance productivity, and support British businesses internationally through Global Britain.

In July, the BGC called for the establishment of a gambling ombudsman, supported by the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS), to handle customer complaints.
