Entain CEO Segev to Leave Entain for Dazn Streaming Platform

Shay Segev, the former Chief Operating Officer of the operator, has taken on the role of CEO in July 2020, succeeding Kenny Alexander. Segev has a notice period of six months and will continue in his current position until a new CEO is appointed. The board of Entain has a process in place to find a successor and has been regularly considering succession issues. Entain Chair Barry Gibson expressed regret at Segev’s departure, stating that they cannot offer the same rewards he has been promised elsewhere. Despite Segev’s exit, Gibson emphasized that the company is in a strong position with a talented leadership team and highlighted 20 consecutive quarters of double-digit online growth. The board’s view of MGM Resorts International’s proposal to acquire Entain remains unchanged. The proposal, which offers 0.6 MGM Resorts shares for each Entain share, is considered undervaluing the business and its future prospects. Segev expressed sadness at leaving Entain but sees the co-CEO role at Dazn as a unique opportunity. Entain’s successful launch of a new strategy positions the company for growth and sustainability. Segev pledged continued support for Entain’s exciting future. He will join Dazn as co-CEO alongside James Rushton, starting a new phase of growth for the sports streaming business. Dazn’s executive chairman, John Skipper, praised Rushton’s leadership and highlighted Segev’s expertise in online gaming and digital transformation. Segev’s new role allows him to combine his passion for sports and transformative technology to enhance the consumer experience. Entain’s shares were trading at 1,453.50 pence per share in London on January 11, experiencing a 1.46% decrease.
