According to data from the largest sector recruiter Pentasia, the average total salary from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 was £58,264, showing a 1.25% year-on-year decrease. Pentasia also analyzed average salaries pre- and post-pandemic. The average salary from July 2019 to January 2020 was £55,000, which dropped 1.8% to £54,000 between March and June due to the effects of the pandemic.

Some departments and specialisms, particularly sales and product, experienced a decrease in roles and salary levels. Marketing also took a noticeable hit during this period. However, redundancy rates remained low, and employers maintain a high level of confidence for future employee growth.

There is a notable difference in perceptions of remote working between employers and workers. While employees see it as a desirable long-term goal, employers are generally less inclined to continue with it.
