RSI has entered into a deal with the Delaware Lottery to provide their igaming solution for an initial five-year term, with the possibility of renewal for five additional one-year terms, depending on regulatory approvals.
Reports had previously indicated that RSI and 888 Holdings were competing for the tender, but ultimately, RSI was the sole remaining bidder for the contract after 888 withdrew in May.
The CEO of RSI, Richard Schwartz, expressed the company’s intention to leverage their success in the tri-state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Schwartz stated that RSI is honored to collaborate with the Delaware Lottery team and the state’s three casinos to offer safe, convenient, and innovative online gaming experiences for Delaware residents.
Rush Street Interactive is recognized as a leading innovator in the industry and has a strong commitment to responsible gambling practices, which impressed Helene Keeley, the director of the Delaware Lottery.
In related news, the lottery’s previous supplier, 888, has ended its decade-long partnership. 888 had been providing online poker and casino solutions to Delaware since 2013. Sources suggest that 888 withdrew from the tender bid due to a lack of communication from the lottery, as well as the state’s small igaming market and associated technical costs.
During the tender process, Delaware’s 2023 legislative session did not pass a sports betting bill, resulting in last-minute delays and complex demands for prospective vendors. Despite state laws prohibiting online sports betting, vendors were required to provide integrations for this activity.
