The operator announced that it has evolved from a pan-European lottery operator into a global business, and has changed its name to reflect this transformation.

In April, Sazka revealed its new corporate identity, Allwyn, as it aimed to secure the latest National Lottery licence in the UK. Allwyn will now be the brand used across the entire business, while its individual brands will remain unchanged and continue to operate.

Allwyn, based in the Czech Republic, is also operational in Austria, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy. The company is seeking to expand further into the UK market through a bid for the fourth National Lottery licence.

In October of last year, Allwyn announced its intention to bid and is now competing with three other operators for the licence. The National Lottery confirmed in October of this year that it has received four final applications for the licence but did not disclose the identities of the applicants. Alongside Allwyn, Italian lottery operator Sisal and pan-European lottery and Health Lottery operator Northern Shell have also applied. India’s Sugal & Damani initially applied but subsequently withdrew from the running.

Camelot, the incumbent licensee, completed the Selection Questionnaire in October 2020, but has not publicly confirmed whether it is bidding for the tender. In September, Allwyn appointed Lord Sebastian Coe as its first independent non-executive director to its board.
