Lottery operator Maltco has implemented its digital transformation strategy by launching an online platform for customers in Malta. Starting from today, the ilottery games are available for players located within Malta. This move aims to offer Malta’s gaming community the opportunity to responsibly participate in lottery games and contribute to raising funds for good causes. Maltco Lotteries’ CEO, Vasileios Kasiotakis, expressed excitement about this development, highlighting the collaborative effort of Maltco Lotteries’ and Intralot’s teams during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to its expansion in Malta, Maltco has also extended its existing agreement with the Georgia Lottery Corporation until 2029. Since 2014, the supplier has provided a central monitoring and accounting system, as well as reporting, training, staffing, and other support services for the successful operation and regulation of coin-operated amusement machine (COAM) products. Georgia permits two types of COAMs, including kiddie rides, skeeball, claw machines, pinball games, typical arcade games, pool tables, and jukeboxes. This extended partnership with Georgia Lottery Corporation is expected to generate greater returns for the State and its residents.
Throughout 2020, Intralot has formed and updated several partnerships, including expanding its agreement with the Dutch national lottery, enhancing its monitoring partnership in New Zealand, and signing a cloud platform deal with Microsoft. Despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on its B2B and B2C operations, which resulted in a significant decline in revenue, Intralot remains optimistic about the future and the potential of its partnerships.
Revenue for the first half of 2020 dropped by 55.5% to €168.2m (£150.6m/$199.2m) compared to the previous year. The licensed operations division (B2C) experienced the most significant decline, with revenue falling by 74.9% to €57.7m during this period.
