Spelinspektionen will charge a fixed fee to organisations holding a gaming software licence in Sweden. Separate fees are required for each licence, unless specifically exempted. In cases where the fee does not cover the supervision costs due to “special events”, the regulator may charge a variable fee to cover the excess. The excess amount is calculated at SEK1,500 (£109/€128/$141) per additional hour of investigative work by supervisors. The licence-holder is also responsible for travel, accommodation, and other inspection expenses. The fixed fee is due just before the invoice date, while the variable fee must be paid one month in advance.
Supplier licences for Sweden were opened by Spelinspektionen on 1 March. By mid-month, the regulator had already awarded the first licences and received a total of 60 licence applications. As of 1 July, any provider wishing to offer services to operators in Sweden will require a five-year licence. The introduction of B2B licences in November was aimed at increasing the country’s channelisation rates towards legal offerings.
