Novomatic Obtains Sixth German Online Slots License for Legal Compliance

1 Min Read

This licence allows Novomatic’s subsidiary, BluBet Operations, to operate under the novoline.de domain in the country.

Mernov, a joint venture between Novomatic and Merkur, was the first operator to receive an online slots licence.

Tipwin and Ruleo also obtained licences in June this year.

Recently, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Glücksspiel (DGGS) changed its name and implemented a “new shareholder structure”.

Last week, Slotmagie and Merkur became the fourth and fifth operators to receive online slots licences in Germany.

Each joint venture partner involved in setting up Mernov now holds its own licence.

The introduction of Germany’s fourth state treaty on gambling on 1st July last year led to the issuance of new slots licences.

This treaty included controversial rules such as a 5.3% tax on turnover for online slots and online poker.

For almost one year after the treaty was enacted, no online slots, poker, or table game operators were listed on the official whitelist.

The state of Sachsen-Anhalt handles licensing in Germany.
