The regulations for legal compliance in the gambling industry were recently released by KRAIL, the regulatory authority in Ukraine.
These rules were established after Ukraine passed a bill to legalize various forms of gambling last year, resulting in the re-regulation of the market.
One significant restriction imposed by the regulations is on bonuses for existing players. Operators are now required to abstain from offering bonus payments or any goods/services as incentives based on a player’s losses in a particular game.
Furthermore, all players must have the ability to self-exclude themselves from gambling and set deposit limits. They should also be able to track the amount of time they spend gambling.
To promote responsible gambling, operators must train their staff to identify signs of problem gambling.
Although KRAIL has already issued licenses, Ukraine is still in the process of developing legislation to impose taxes on gambling activities.
Last week, the country’s legislature, the Verkhovna Rada, advanced a bill for the second reading to determine gambling taxes. However, the bill did not receive enough votes to be passed immediately, despite having more support than opposition.
The proposed bill, known as 2713-D, was initially introduced by a legislative committee in February. It suggests a tax rate of 10% of gross revenue for all gambling verticals.
Previously, the taxation plans for Ukraine’s regulated gambling landscape involved rates ranging from 10% to 30% depending on the specific vertical.
