The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) announced an enforcement action on 3 March. N1, along with four other operators – Videoslots, Betpoint, Probe Investments, and Fairload Limited, were fined for non-compliance. Despite being informed of the fines in December, the operators chose to go to court to delay the publication of the fines. However, their request was rejected by a judge.
The KSA stated that N1 violated the Betting and Gaming Act of the country, which prohibits operators from offering games of chance without the necessary license. Specifically, this violation was related to N1’s online gambling platform, Bobcasino.com.
N1 disputes the KSA’s analysis and the alleged violation of the law. The operator claims to have implemented measures to prevent players from the Netherlands from accessing its online casino offerings. N1 also disputes the amount of the fine, deeming it disproportionately high and based on an incorrect and baseless calculation by the KSA.
N1 had previously been fined €500,000 in 2021 for illegally offering gambling to Dutch users without a license. While N1’s appeal is ongoing, the fine is not yet final. However, the regulator denied N1’s request to delay the publication of the decision.
Videoslots, another operator, also disputed its fine. The company argued that it does not target the Netherlands and restricts access to its services in compliance with the Dutch Gaming Act. Videoslots criticized the KSA for gaining unauthorized access to its website and lacking guidelines on sufficient security measures.
