In accordance with the ruling, Rush Gaming is required to cease all activities conducted under its Malta licence. Rush Gaming operates the Fansbet.com and Onebet.com websites. The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) did not provide detailed reasons for the decision, but stated that licences can be suspended if operators violate gambling-specific regulations or laws in Malta. The MGA also specified that existing Rush Gaming customers must have access to their accounts during the suspension. Additionally, the MGA instructed Rush Gaming to refund all funds to registered players. Rush Gaming’s B2C gaming licence covers various gambling activities such as casino, controlled skill games, and fixed-odds offerings like live betting.
The ruling precedes Charles Mizzi assuming the role of CEO of the MGA later this month. Mizzi will replace Carl Brincat, who has been in charge for two years. Mizzi joins the MGA after serving as CEO of Residency Malta Agency for five years. He has previously held senior positions, including head of the image and communications unit at BNF Bank.
In other news, the MGA recently renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC). This agreement, established in 2013, facilitates ongoing collaboration between the two regulators. The partnership focuses on enhancing cooperation to effectively perform functions like preventing crime, protecting consumers, and safeguarding vulnerable individuals from gambling addiction.
