Legal-Compliance Breach: Massachusetts Casinos Fined for Violating College Betting Rule

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has raised compliance concerns regarding MGM Springfield, Plainridge Park Casino, and Encore Boston Harbor, identifying separate offenses.

Both Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield were fined $20,000 for legal non-compliance.

Encore Boston Harbor faced a penalty of $10,000 for violation of legal regulations.

Several casinos were fined for violating legal-compliance regulations by permitting betting on regular-season games involving Massachusetts college teams.

According to state law, it is illegal to place bets on events that involve Massachusetts colleges, unless the event is part of a tournament consisting of at least four teams.
