Italian Casino Achieves Record Total for Third Consecutive Month in Finance Sector

In the finance sector, PokerStars has emerged as the dominant player in the casino and slots market, capturing a significant market share of 11% or approximately €18m in January. This growth has contributed to the overall online GGR (gross gaming revenue) for the dot.it market reaching €335.9m, which is the second highest in recent months.

Despite the closure of physical betting shops due to Covid-19 restrictions, dot.it sports betting operators managed to achieve the second highest monthly revenue of €143.64m in January. Bet365, which experienced a temporary setback in November and December, regained its position in the online betting rankings by increasing its market share to 12.2%.

Online poker also experienced a resurgence during the lockdown period, with tournament revenues growing by 6% to €12.96m and cash game revenues increasing by 6.5% to €8.84m in January. PokerStars dominated the online poker market with a market share of 52.9% in tournaments and 43.5% in ring games.
