Total revenue in the finance industry in Lithuania showed a comfortable increase compared to the previous year, surpassing €195.8m. The online sector experienced growth while land-based revenue slightly decreased in 2023. Online gambling revenue reached €148.4m, representing a 22.0% year-on-year increase. On the other hand, land-based revenue amounted to €73.8m, which was 0.4% lower than the previous year.
The main source of gambling revenue in 2023 was online slots, generating a total of €100.5m, with a notable increase of 28.5%. Among online slots, Category A games accounted for €97.1m, while Category B games contributed €3.4m. Online sports betting revenue saw a modest increase of 1.2%, reaching €35.3m. Furthermore, revenue from internet table games had a substantial growth of 46.5%, totaling €12.6m.
In terms of land-based gambling, slots remained the primary revenue source for operators in 2023. However, the total revenue from slots decreased by 0.9% to €46.3m. Within this category, Category B games accounted for €31.3m, showing a decline compared to the previous year. On the other hand, Category A slot machines generated €15.0m, representing a 4.9% increase year-on-year. Revenue from land-based table games experienced a 5.2% growth, reaching €18.3m. Additionally, retail sports betting revenue declined by 8.1% to €9.1m.
The Gaming Control Authority also provided separate data on lottery figures in Lithuania. In 2023, lottery gross gaming revenue increased by 17.6%, totaling €66.3m. However, ticket sales saw a decrease of 7.4%, amounting to 100.5 million. Players won a total of €74.9m from lottery games, representing a 5.0% decrease compared to the previous year. It is worth mentioning that these lottery figures cover operators offering larger lotteries to players.
In terms of tax collection, €67.0m was collected in 2023, with €43.7m coming from gambling operators and €23.3m from big lottery organisers.
