The Danish government has issued a closure order for casinos, gaming halls, and restaurants in several regions, including Greater Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, and certain areas within the Sjælland region. This order will be in effect until 3 January next year, leading to the temporary closure of all land-based gambling venues in these areas.

Additionally, indoor sporting venues and cultural centers will also have to remain closed until January. The government has decided to extend national measures until at least 28 February next year, encouraging individuals to limit social contact and work from home whenever possible.

In the midst of these closures, Spillemyndigheden is currently accepting applications for new land-based and on-ship casinos in Denmark. The application window for land-based gaming permits opened in October and will continue until 29 January. Similarly, applications for casinos operating on Danish ships in regular service will also be accepted during this period.

Operators granted permission to operate land-based casinos can do so for up to 10 years at a time. Presently, Denmark has eight active licenses for land-based casinos, including two on board ferries. Furthermore, a permit has been issued for a land-based casino in Copenhagen, originally scheduled to open before the end of this year.
