Kfpicks recommends a forecast for the ATP of Genoa.
Match between the Austrian Thiem and the Italian Cecchinato. Two players who are far from their best states of form and that years ago this would have been a great match about clay.
Cecchinato has SF in grand slam while Thiem has managed to win a GS and for a while he has been the only one who shadowed Nadal on land.
The Austrian has been playing 5 matches this year and has lost all 5, if it is true that he is gradually taking shape but he is still very far from being competitive in ATP.
Cecchinato on the other hand has 11 consecutive defeats this year and like Thiem it was seen that he was getting better and better, in fact all his last defeats have been very tight and he just lacked a little boost in his confidence.
Here in Geneva he has clearly surpassed the qualy, leaving 5 games with Lenz and only 4 with Pablo Cuevas.
I think both have had the same trajectory this year, they came back after an injury break and now they are regaining confidence, with the difference that Cecchinato is several weeks ahead and today that plus of competitive pace should be noticed.
