The platform, backed with £2.6m (€3.1m/$3.5m) in seed funding, enables fans to engage in sports prediction games and compete against friends or in mini leagues for cash prizes. Players will need to place small bets on their predictions, with dynamic leaderboards updating as games progress and rewarding winners.
PickGuru raised £2.6m in seed funding from angel investors, including a former communications director at Paddy Power, the founder and chairman of Global Cycling Network, the founders of unicorn Marshmallow, and the founder of Grabyo. The platform also has seasoned leaders, such as Slipper as chairman, the founder of Matulo Software, the former financial planning and analysis director at Stats Perform, the founders of Pitch International, and the co-founder of Masomo Games and former brand director at Paddy Power.
PickGuru has plans to launch in early 2022 and is currently seeking to fill 10 positions in development, compliance, and marketing. They aim to hire an additional 20 roles within the next year. Slipper expressed pride in their hard work and substantial investment, stating that the platform combines elements of fantasy sports, gaming, and live action in a unique way.
