The Stockholm-listed group, which has led calls for tighter controls to combat offshore operators in the Swedish market, has added a new solution that enables operators to set up their own criteria and checklist parameters for daily scanning and checking of affiliate websites or requested domains. This marketing compliance tool reflects LeoVegas’ commitment to responsible gaming by strengthening control over third-party advertising and protecting its brands from being promoted on non-compliant international websites.
Jonas Warrer, managing director of GiG Media, expressed his satisfaction in adding LeoVegas as a partner and supporting them in protecting their brands and end-users. The automated marketing and compliance technology will ensure LeoVegas’ compliance with responsible gaming conditions in their affiliate marketing.
In a recent consultation on online casino controls in Sweden, LeoVegas recommended that the government focus on targeting offshore operators instead of restricting the legal market. It proposed issuing warnings and initiating payment blocking efforts against unlicensed businesses, with support from a disclosure obligation to ensure bank cooperation. Furthermore, it suggested amending the Swedish Gambling Act to include licensing for platform providers, games developers, affiliates, and payment intermediaries. LeoVegas also proposed exploring the possibility of IP blocking and prioritizing cases with significant winnings from offshore operators in cooperation with the Swedish tax authorities.
LeoVegas reported marginal year-on-year growth for the third quarter of 2020, with revenue reaching €88.9m, a 0.8% increase. The operator attributed the slower growth to Sweden’s temporary restrictions on online casino spend, which it has been opposing since the beginning.
