With an increased focus on responsible gambling practices, the agency is committed to monitoring venues to ensure adherence to these stringent measures. This initiative demonstrates Liquor & Gaming NSW’s dedication to fostering a safer gambling environment for all patrons.

Regular inspections and compliance checks are being conducted to verify that all local gambling establishments are meeting the set standards. These proactive steps aim to mitigate the potential risks associated with gambling and promote healthier community outcomes.

NSW Inspectors Enforce New Gambling Regulations in 528 Venues

Authorities in New South Wales have conducted inspections on 528 hotels and clubs to ensure adherence to the latest gambling regulations. These compliance checks focused on several key areas including the establishment of responsible gaming officer positions, the maintenance of gambling incident registers, the display of ATM signage, and the implementation of gaming management plans.

The new regulations aim to promote responsible gaming and enhance the safety and well-being of patrons in the region. By enforcing these requirements, NSW inspectors are working diligently to uphold the integrity of the gaming industry.

Since the new measures were implemented on July 1, 2024, an impressive 93% of gambling venues have adhered to the regulations. The majority of violations have been minor, primarily concerning ATM signage requirements.

New compliance measures for gambling venues

Inspectors are set to maintain rigorous oversight to ensure that gambling venues adhere to recently imposed compliance obligations. As part of heightened regulatory efforts, venues must align with the updated standards to continue operating legally.

These new measures are designed to promote safer gambling environments and protect patrons. Venue operators are urged to stay informed and adjust their practices accordingly to meet these enhanced requirements.

Continuous inspection guarantees that operators are meeting their legal responsibilities, thereby fostering a more responsible gambling industry.

New requirements aim to enhance customer safety measures and ensure venues have necessary training and procedures in place.

From January 1, 2025, new regulations will come into effect requiring venues to position ATMs at least five meters away from gaming areas. Venues that cannot comply may apply for exemptions under specific conditions.
