Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, approximately 15% of Evoplay’s staff has relocated to Cyprus. For those remaining in Ukraine, the company has arranged working and living facilities for its new office in Lviv in the eastern part of the country. Evoplay has also launched a fund to support its entire workforce, providing full financial and logistical assistance for team members to relocate to safer regions within Ukraine or to Cyprus. The company assures that its operations will continue as usual from its new European locations and has implemented a contingency plan to ensure scheduled studio game development throughout 2022.
In addition to these measures, Evoplay has donated to various initiatives supporting people in Ukraine and actively participating in humanitarian relief efforts. Many of its employees have also committed to volunteering and relief projects, receiving unlimited leave and financial support from the company. Evoplay’s CEO, Ivan Kravchuk, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the Ukrainian relief effort and pledged to allocate all available resources to rehouse its Ukraine-based team members. He further expressed the company’s dedication to supporting broader humanitarian efforts as the situation evolves.
Similar actions have been taken by other gambling businesses operating in Ukraine. Aristocrat Leisure has assisted over two-thirds of its employees and their families from its Ukraine-based business units. Playson paid tribute to its staff in Ukraine for their efforts, with some employees even joining Ukraine’s armed forces. Additionally, the initiative “Gaming Industry For Ukraine” has raised more than £206,000 to support the people of Ukraine, nearing its £250,000 target.
