In November, sports betting in Kansas reached a new high with a total handle of $259.7 million, surpassing the record set in October by 4.5%. This figure was also 40.0% higher compared to November last year when $186.4 million was wagered.
The majority of the bets, $251.7 million, were placed online, while the remaining $9.2 million was bet at retail sportsbooks across the state.
However, despite the record handle, the revenue from sports betting in Kansas in November was $8.9 million. Although this fell 38.2% short of the previous month’s record of $14.4 million, it showed an 11.3% increase from November 2022 when $8.0 million in revenue was generated.
Of the total revenue, $8.2 million came from online sports wagering, and $753,778 was derived from retail sportsbooks.
Looking at the market breakdown, Boot Hill Casino and DraftKings remained the top performers in the online sector in Kansas, generating $4.2 million in revenue from a total of $109.6 million in bets.
The partnership between Kansas Star and FanDuel followed with $2.8 million in revenue from an $80.1 million handle. Kansas Crossing and BetMGM ranked third, generating $962,326 in revenue from a handle of $24.1 million.
In the retail sector, Barstool and the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway led the way, producing $528,142 in revenue from $6.3 million in bets. FanDuel and Kansas Star came in second with $174,148 in revenue off $1.7 million in bets. Caesars and Kansas Crossing were third with $51,488 in revenue from $463,914 in bets.
During November, Kansas collected $892,968 in wagering taxes, with $817,590 coming from online betting and $75,378 from retail betting.
