In July, the sports betting handle in New Hampshire decreased compared to July 2022, reaching $42.7 million. It was also 6.1% lower than the handle in June 2023, which amounted to $39.3 million.
Out of the total handle, $33.4 million was wagered online using DraftKings, while $3.5 million was wagered at retail sportsbooks.
DraftKings has held the exclusive rights to offer online sports betting through the New Hampshire Lottery since November 2019.
The gross gaming revenue from wagering in July was $3.5 million. However, this amount decreased by 22.2% compared to July 2022 ($4.5 million) and was 20.5% lower than June 2023 ($4 million).
Breaking down the monthly revenue performance, $1.4 million came from online betting with DraftKings, while retail sportsbooks generated only $179,994 in revenue.
New Hampshire generated $1.6 million in taxes from sports betting during July.
July marked the beginning of the state’s new financial year. Throughout fiscal year 2023, players spent a total of $883.7 million on sports betting, which was 2.6% higher than the previous year’s total of $861.1 million.
The increase in spending was driven solely by the online market, where the total spend rose by 5.9% to $709.8 million. On the other hand, retail bets fell by 8.9% to $173.8 million.
The full-year handle for fiscal year 2023 saw a significant increase of 57.0% year-on-year, reaching $81.0 million. This increase was observed for both online and retail betting.
