“Strategy 2023 – Safeguarding Our Digital Generation” is a charity initiative that focuses on social responsibility and SEO-friendly activities over the next three years. The primary goal is to prevent children and young people from experiencing gambling harms through awareness-raising, education, and research.
To achieve this, YGAM has outlined three strategic pillars:
- Reach and Impact: This pillar involves growing and expanding YGAM’s activities. It includes delivering and building on existing education programs, expanding geographic outreach, adding new content and hybrid training options, introducing a YGAM Alumni Portfolio, and implementing interactive learning sessions.
- Thought Leadership, Research, and Innovation: This pillar focuses on sharing opinions, best practices, and evidence to encourage effective policy and practice implementation. YGAM plans to engage with those with lived experiences, develop research collaborations, capture knowledge and expertise, share knowledge with policymakers, and introduce communities of practice for harm prevention.
- Digital Futures: This pillar addresses the impact of the digital world on children and young people. YGAM aims to bridge the gap between experiences and knowledge, engage in coproduction, develop digital thought leadership culture, and build partnerships for informed practice.
These activities will be supported by three enabling pillars:
- Diverse and Sustainable Funding: YGAM aims to diversify its income streams and ensure sustainable and ethical fundraising models.
- Great Place to Work: YGAM emphasizes a positive working culture that values and empowers its staff to make a difference.
- Operational Excellence: YGAM focuses on providing professional and agile business support to enable success and ensure staff have the necessary resources and support.
“The digital world offers opportunities and risks, especially for young people,” stated YGAM CEO Dr Jane Rigbye. “We have a clear purpose, evidence-based programs, and a focus on continuous improvement.”
Shadow Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport minister Jeff Smith MP expressed support for the strategy, calling on the government’s white paper to support education and prevention efforts. He emphasized the importance of preventing harm and addressing sustainability concerns for charitable services.
This strategy launch follows YGAM’s recent announcement as the official charity partner for ICE London 2023 and the InnovateChange Affiliate London Awards.
