Bet365, Betfair, Entain, PointsBet, Sportsbet, and Unibet have jointly pledged to provide ongoing funding for a three-year period to support social responsibility initiatives. The funds will be used by the RWA (Responsible Wagering Australia) to ensure Australians have prompt access to financial counseling services when needed.

The RWA recognizes the importance of supporting Australians with their financial well-being and has collaborated with the government, the financial counseling sector, and other industries such as banking, energy, and insurance. Together, they have established a not-for-profit body that will distribute the funds starting next year.

RWA CEO Kai Cantwell commends the efforts of its members in prioritizing customer safety. The commitment to funding reinforces the industry standard for online gambling, with various consumer protection measures in place, including mandatory age and identity verification, deposit limits, time out tools, and activity statements.

Ensuring a safe gambling environment and providing tools for customers to control their gambling behavior are paramount for RWA and its members. The funding commitment reflects their collective dedication to safeguarding the well-being of Australians and offering vital support to those who may require assistance in managing their financial circumstances.

Cantwell emphasizes the increasing significance of financial counseling amidst the challenges Australians face with rising living costs. Thanks to the funding provided by RWA members, more people will have access to specialized services. The newly established body will help individuals navigate their current financial situations and develop long-term financial skills applicable to various aspects of their lives.

RWA is committed to collaborating with the government and other industries to ensure the successful implementation of this initiative. It encourages other sectors to follow RWA’s lead and contribute to this scheme, further supporting Australian consumers.
