Designed to enable health care professionals to access quality training on gambling and gaming harm in young people under the age of 25, the Mindful Resilience Programme launched in September 2020.
The programme was developed by YGAM in partnership with psychologists and informed by academics, health professionals, and individuals with lived experience.
Supported by the Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Dr Rosena Alin-Khan MP, the pilot programme is currently being implemented.
The long-term vision of YGAM is to expand the programme after extensive evaluation, ensuring that gambling harm risks are identified and prioritized by trained health care professionals who can engage with young people and encourage them to seek help.
Merkur UK general manager Sascha Blodau expressed their enthusiasm in supporting the initiative: “Safer gambling should be a commitment that gambling entertainment businesses have with society at large.”
He emphasized the importance of training health professionals to protect young people and the vulnerable from gambling harm.
YGAM’s director of business development and fundraising, Ian Shanahan, expressed gratitude for the support and commitment from Merkur, highlighting the crucial role of the Mindful Resilience Programme in attracting interest from the health sector.
This support will enable YGAM to expand the program’s reach, profile, and impact.
