Between 18 June and 19 September 2023, approximately 3.3% of Kindred’s revenue was generated from harmful gambling activities. This is slightly higher than the previous quarter’s figure of 3.1%, which marked the lowest percentage since Kindred announced its goal of eliminating revenue from harmful gambling by the end of 2023. Kindred, the parent company of brands like Unibet, expressed satisfaction with its performance during the quarter. The company attributed its success to a focus on detection and automated interventions, which resulted in an 86.7% improvement in customer behavior compared to 86.4% in Q2 and 82.1% in Q4 2022. To further enhance responsible gambling practices, Kindred has continuously implemented automated interventions and enhanced features in their safer gambling toolkit across all its brands. However, despite these efforts, Kindred acknowledges the need for additional measures to achieve a long-term sustainable industry in all markets.
A positive trend has been observed in customers improving their gambling behavior after interventions. In Q1 2020, harmful gambling accounted for 3.9% of revenue, reaching a peak of 4.7% later that year. The effectiveness of interventions in improving behavior decreased from 77.3% in Q1 2020 to 64.9% in 2021.
