The agreement aims to ensure sporting integrity in the Spanish market through cooperation and coordination between the parties involved. The focus will be on promoting regulated betting markets with high consumer channelling and implementing measures to protect consumer, sports, and operator integrity.

IBIA chief executive, Khalid Ali, stated that Spain is an important market for IBIA members and a closer alliance with Jdigital is logical, especially considering the expected challenges in channelisation from recent advertising and sponsorship restrictions. IBIA will utilize their international data to enhance the integrity of the market and its sporting events.

Jdigital director general, Andrea Vota, expressed their commitment to safe and responsible gambling, particularly in the main activity of online gambling in Spain, which is betting. The partnership with IBIA is seen as crucial in this mission.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) follows the recent announcement that IBIA reported 64 suspicious betting events during the first quarter of 2021, with tennis and esports being the main sports of concern. Spain was involved in two of these reports, specifically related to betting on tennis.
