The ‘Play it Safe’ campaign aims to promote safer gambling and social responsibility among individuals who gamble at land-based casinos and betting shops. It will be launched in the UK, US, Italy, and Australia.
Gambless, the organization behind the campaign, will distribute flyers that include a Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) self-assessment test and a free code to access psycho-educational resources on the Gambless mobile app.
The Gambless app offers a range of resources, including player protection tools provided by well-known land-based operators such as the Hippodrome Casino in the UK and LoginBet betting shops in Italy.
Gambless’s CEO, Maurizio Savino, emphasizes the significance of reopening safely, not only in terms of sanitarian measures but also regarding responsible gambling habits. He emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between healthy habits and potentially harmful ones.
To support the struggling land-based establishments and assist gamblers, Gambless is offering its resources free of charge to operators and users until the end of 2021.
Covid-19 restrictions have gradually eased in various regions. In England, casinos, bingo halls, and adult entertainment centers were allowed to reopen last month. Betting shops resumed operations in April. Similarly, the US is progressively lifting restrictions on a state-by-state basis; for instance, casinos in Nevada can now operate gaming facilities at full capacity without social distancing requirements. Italy and Australia have also begun reopening their land-based gaming markets, although certain measures and capacity limitations have been implemented due to state lockdowns.
Aside from the abovementioned developments, Crown Resorts temporarily closed its Melbourne casino in response to a lockdown imposed by the state of Victoria. The lockdown, initially intended to last until 3 June, has been extended by an additional seven days.
