The Trident Community Foundation (TCF) was launched in December 2020 as a collaboration between Entain and the Trident Leagues – the Isthmian, Northern Premier, and Southern Leagues. Its primary purpose is to provide funding for community projects organized by 245 clubs participating in these leagues. These projects cover a range of areas such as coaching in the community, the expansion of girls’ football, and the health and wellbeing of youngsters.
Clubs can apply for funding by submitting a grant application. During the 2020-21 season, the TCF awarded grants to 27 clubs to support their projects. In addition to this, Entain’s Pitching In program, launched as a grassroots and non-elite sport investment fund to assist clubs affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, actively participates in the scheme. Entain’s contribution to the Trident Leagues’ competitions now exceeds £1 million with the recent addition of £150,000 in funding.
The new funding from Entain has been welcomed by Stuart Pearce, former captain of the England men’s football team and ambassador of the Pitching In project. Pearce acknowledges the challenging financial situation faced by non-league football clubs due to the pandemic and believes that this additional funding will make a significant difference to clubs, players, and fans across the country. He appreciates how the Trident Community Foundation strengthens community bonds and emphasizes the importance of providing opportunities for future generations to experience and enjoy grassroots football.
Expressing their gratitude for Entain’s continued support, the chairmen of the Isthmian, Northern Premier, and Southern Leagues state that this latest phase of the Pitching In program is critical for the future of non-league football. Recognizing the vital role that clubs play in their local communities, they are confident that this funding will enable clubs to strengthen their connections and enhance their impact.
