The operator, Betfred, has pledged to donate £50,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for any hole-in-one achieved at the fourteenth hole at the Brabazon Golf Course. English professional golfer Matthew Baldwin successfully accomplished this during the competition.
Furthermore, Betfred has committed to donating £500 to the UK-based charity for every hole completed in two strokes under par or better. An additional £500 will be donated for every drive to the green on the tenth hole. This initiative aims to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer and encourage individuals to get checked.
Betfred owner Fred Done emphasizes the importance of not only the funds raised, but also the promotion of the cause. He states, “I’m very pleased with that [£84k donation], but promoting it is as important as giving the money.”
In March, Betfred announced an expansion of its partnership with gaming provider Playtech. This multi-year extension deal allows for an increased number of Playtech betting terminals in Betfred’s retail spaces. Additionally, horse and dog racing will be featured on the machines for the first time.
Betfred group chief operating officer Mark Stebbings highlights the significance of their ongoing relationship with market leader Playtech. He states, “The importance of betting terminals to our retail offering continues to increase, becoming an increasingly essential gaming component for our customers and, therefore, a crucial part of the future of our company.”
