In his new role, Leigh will be responsible for defining XLMedia’s long-term technology roadmap, leading its technology vision, and driving value creation across its portfolio of publishing websites.
Leigh joins XLMedia after serving as the chief digital technology officer at UK multimedia organization JPIMedia for two and a half years.
During his time at JPIMedia, Leigh oversaw the reshaping of the organization’s digital assets, structures, and commercial propositions. He also played a key role in rebuilding its entire technology stack.
Prior to his role at JPIMedia, Leigh spent almost four years with media business Johnston Press. Before that, he had a nine-year tenure with Telegraph Media Group.
“I am very pleased to be welcoming Nigel to XLMedia’s leadership team,” said XLMedia chief executive Stuart Simms. “Nigel’s hiring is a key part of our continued commitment to becoming a more data-driven business, building faster and more efficient operations, and forging closer links with our consumers.”
The appointment of Leigh comes as XLMedia forecasts year-on-year revenue growth for its 2021 financial year, despite expecting “ongoing weakness” in its European casino business.
Revenue is projected to reach between $65m (£47m/€55m) and $70m, representing an 18.2% to 27.3% increase compared to the $55m posted in 2020.
