UK Tote announced the addition of Lord Spencer and Mark Holt to its board, as part of its continued growth plans. The company aims to focus on product innovation, providing better value to customers, improving their overall experience, and forming strong partnerships to increase liquidity and create larger pools.
Lord Spencer is a successful entrepreneur and the founder of ICAP, an interdealer broker that became a FTSE100 company in 2006. He also founded NEX plc, an electronic markets services provider. Lord Spencer is one of over 150 investors in UK Tote. In addition to his role as a board director for a few private businesses, he became the chairman of the Centre for Policy Studies in 2020.
Mark Holt brings valuable experience and knowledge from his previous positions in senior technology roles. He has served as the chief technology officer at CPA Global and Trainline. Currently, he holds the position of chief product and engineering officer at 10x Banking Technologies Services, a financial services company that focuses on transitioning banks to next-generation core banking solutions. Holt is also a non-executive director at Camelot and the chair of the training business Divrsity.
UK Tote Group chairman, John Williamson, expressed his excitement about Lord Spencer and Mark Holt joining the board during this period of growth for the company. He regarded Lord Spencer’s extensive business experience as a valuable asset to the team, given his long-standing investment in UK Tote. Williamson also highlighted Holt’s technological expertise, which will contribute significantly to the development and improvement of the Tote’s pool betting engine. Both Lord Spencer and Mark Holt will provide support to the existing executive team and the dedicated workforce of 170 employees at UK Tote’s headquarters in Wigan and London office.
