Seamus McGill took over as CEO of GAN, an online gambling solutions provider, last September after the resignation of Dermot Smurfit. McGill, who has been with the company since 2014, will oversee the completion of GAN’s $107.6m buyout by Sega Sammy Holdings.
David Goldberg, GAN’s chairman, expressed confidence in McGill’s experience and leadership abilities, making him the ideal candidate for the CEO position. McGill, who was previously the non-executive chairman of GAN, expressed his gratitude for the appointment and emphasized the company’s commitment to finalizing the acquisition with Sega Sammy.
Following the takeover, GAN’s brand will remain intact. The acquisition by Sega Sammy, a Japan-based company with a focus on expanding its gaming business, is seen as a strategic move to capitalize on growth opportunities in the US igaming market. Shareholders have approved the transaction, which will result in GAN merging with a special purpose company under SSC.
