In March, special purpose acquisition company Artemis announced a business combination with Novibet, enabling Novibet to list on the Nasdaq exchange. The merger has been approved by both companies’ boards and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2022, subject to approval from Artemis shareholders and other closing conditions.
To prepare for the completion of the deal, Novibet has appointed Christoforos Bozatzidis as the chief marketing officer for international markets. Bozatzidis joins from Greek telco Wind Hellas and will oversee Novibet’s expansion into global markets, including Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Thomas Granite, currently the CFO, treasurer, and secretary of Artemis, will become the CFO and treasurer of Novibet after the merger. Granite will manage Novibet’s financial aspects, including reporting, audit, compliance, investor relations, treasury, and capital markets. He will also play a significant role in strategic planning, business development, and mergers and acquisitions. Granite previously served as CFO of Maverick Gaming and managing director for the Real Estate, Gaming, and Lodging Investment Banking group at Jefferies Financial Group.
Novibet CEO George Athanasopoulos expressed excitement about the upcoming expansion into additional regulated iGaming and OSB markets in Europe, North America, and Latin America. Enhancing senior management leadership and capabilities is seen as vital to achieving consistent progress in these business expansion initiatives.
Prior to the merger, Novibet announced the expected composition of its board of directors. Rodolfo Odoni, owner of Komisium and beneficial owner of Novibet, will serve as the executive chairman of Novibet’s board. Athanasopoulos will be a director, along with Samy David, a managing partner of Grifon Partners since 2013, and Holly Gagnon, co-chief executive and chairperson of Artemis. Philip Kaplan, co-chief executive and president of Artemis, will also join the board.
Odoni emphasized that the proposed board of directors includes senior executives with significant gaming, technology industry, and capital markets experience, which will be valuable in executing growth initiatives and creating value for shareholders.
